Your consent to texts from Ruck

By texting a contractor's Ruck phone number, or by replying YES to a text from Ruck asking whether you want texts, you agree to receive text messages from Ruck, sent on behalf of your contractor, about your job: scheduling and arrival times, progress updates, photos and videos of the work, and questions about it. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Agreeing is not a condition of any purchase. See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Contractors use Ruck to run their jobs. Each person on a contractor's team can have their own Ruck phone number, and uses it to text their clients about their job. These texts come from the contractor, sent through Ruck. They are never marketing.

How you agree to texts

A contractor can text you from a Ruck number only after you agree, in one of two ways.

You text the contractor first

The contractor gives you their Ruck number, for example in person, on a call, on an estimate or by email, and you text it about your job. Texting first is your agreement to get replies from that number about your job. The contractor's first reply ends with:

Acme Remodeling via Ruck. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

The contractor texts you first

If you give the contractor your mobile number, Ruck's first text to it asks whether you want texts, and nothing else is sent to you until you reply YES:

Acme Remodeling uses Ruck to text you about your job. Reply YES to get texts from Sam Rivera at this number. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Terms: https://ruck.com/policies/terms-of-service Privacy: https://ruck.com/policies/privacy-policy

When you reply YES, Ruck confirms it, and only then sends the contractor's texts:

Acme Remodeling via Ruck: Thanks, you'll get texts from Sam Rivera here about your job. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

If you don't reply YES, you get nothing more from that number, except the same request again at most twice, at least a day apart.

Ruck keeps your YES, or your first text, with the time it arrived, as the record of your agreement.

What the texts are like

  • "The crew will be there at 8 tomorrow to start the bathroom tile."
  • "Here are today's photos of the framing." (with photos attached)
  • "Can you pick a grout color by Thursday?"

How many texts you get depends on your job. Message and data rates may apply. Agreeing to texts is not a condition of buying anything.

Stopping texts

Reply STOP to any text to stop all texts from that number. You'll get one text confirming it, and nothing more. Reply START to get texts from it again. Reply HELP for help, or email support@ruck.com.
